Mr. William K. Suter
Office of the Clerk
Supreme Court of The United States
Washington, DC 20543-0001
re: Sklaroff v. Fisher & Philip Morris, et al.
Dear. Mr. Suter:
Enclosed, please find forty paper-books related to the above-captioned new matter. Indeed, this Writ of Certiorari is filed well-within the 60-day extension you granted me on April 5, 2000 (following my remittance of the letter from the PA Supreme Court). Also enclosed are forty copies of an Addendum, intended to supplement the Writ.
I believe I have complied precisely with your 5/4/2000 letter. I have modified the caption (removing the term and inserting “Petitioner and Respondents”). The text was all re-set in Times New Roman (12-point for main-text and 10-point for footnotes), with 2-point or more leading between lines. Prior to printing forty copies of the final document, I FAX’ed (202-479-3021) the first few pages thereof to Ms. Ruth Jones (202-479-3022); she approved the above two considerations (the caption and the font) in particular.
[It may be wise to amend your rules to note the difference between Roman at 11-point and Times New Roman at 12-point, noting the broader use (through Microsoft’s Word) of the latter (and that “Office” does not contain the option of using the former). Clearly, drawing this distinction could be anticipated to affect a substantial volume of your work.]
Please date-stamp the extra copy of the cover-page and return it to myself in the stamped, self-addressed envelope; these documents are paper-clipped to this cover-letter.
Enclosed is $300, the filing fee, made out to “Clerk, US Supreme Court.”
Also enclosed is the Certificate of Service.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
*
